The Invisible: Phil Summer, Kris Bauer, Kipp Wilfong, Karl Bauer - Allerton Park
Notes:
The unofficial Invisibility CD release show was at The Void with
Shipwreck (pre The Dirty Feathers), and Pygmalion Music Festival founder
Seth Fein was scheduled to replace drummer Kipp Wilfong for a series of
concerts that followed in promotion of the album (see Buzz Magazine:
Dec. 2, 2004 - THIS WEEK IN MUSIC, Todd J. Hunter, & Buzz Magazine:
May 5, 2005, SOUND GROUND #74, Todd J. Hunter). The album was recorded
entirely at the third Polehouse location next door to Private Studios on
Western Avenue in Urbana, and the cover photo is of the studio/practice
space where it was made. The computer in the background is the G4 it
was recorded on with DP (Digital Performer) and the lampshade in the
foreground came from the office at Paradiso, where shows were thriving
at the time (Joan of Arc/The Pony's/Mates of State etc.) with the help
of booking agent Seth Fein, and following the introduction of the stage
which ended up at there as a result of the Blockheads event co-organized
by High Street Orchestra front man Chris Jeckel. Kipp Wilfong was the
drummer at the time of its making but his drums were not recorded for
the album. Details were not included in the liner notes which instead
referred the reader to the website to obtain additional information.
This marked the beginning of when The Invisible took control of its own
website, a responsibility which formerly belonged to Smile Politely
co-founder Mason Kessinger. From theinvisible.biz (formerly
theinvisible.us) mp3 freebees were given away and self produced videos
and mini-documentaries were also featured. Also, a CD Baby account was
launched which led to the availability of all of the Big Jolt albums on
iTunes and other digital distribution services.
